Why choose Jamie Ferris-May to develop your fashion product?

Considered Product Design & development

Jamie can research, design and develop the perfect products for your brand. If you have designed your own products, that’s okay too – Jamie is here to help you achieve your very own vision.

Jamie’s experience working on women’s, children’s and menswear in various sectors ensures a deep understanding and sensitivity to trends and commercial considerations.

Creative pattern design & sampling

A great design needs an excellent pattern to help it be as competitive as possible in a challenging market. Jamie considers pattern making a consolidation of the design process and creates digital CAD patterns that aim for high accuracy and flair to ensure the best possible product outcomes.

Initial sample patterns are provided as PDF files, which can be printed economically at any local print shop. The sampling process is overseen by Jamie using her expert network of sample makers to produce accurate prototypes ready for the manufacturers to produce pre-production samples. The final digital files are graded into sizes and can be emailed to the manufacturer or printed as markers, paper patterns or card patterns depending on the format required for production.

Please contact Jamie to discuss your pattern development and sampling requirements.

Production ready tech packs

The technical side of fashion is also a crucial part of producing a marketable product. Jamie provides a thorough tech pack service to compliment her digital patterns – or can create stand-alone tech packs to ensure local and/or overseas manufacturers have all they require to produce the desired product. Jamie can liaise with the manufacturers directly on your behalf to negotiate on price, source fabrics and trims and trouble-shoot potential production issues.

Jamie also conducts pre-production and post-production quality assessment reports to ensure quality standards are met by the manufacturers.

Please contact Jamie to discuss your tech-pack and manufacturing requirements for local and/or overseas production.

Sustainable, local networks for indie labels

A big consideration for established and emerging labels is to produce sustainably and responsibly. Consumers are increasingly valuing and insisting on thoughtful product. For some labels, they may look to manufacturing locally on a smaller, more bespoke scale.

Jamie has a network of trusted, highly skilled local suppliers, small-run makers and manufacturers she can recommend – not only to enable you to start small and nimble. but keep you offering the products your mindful customers will continue to value.

Please contact Jamie to discuss how you can have your product sustainably and economically ‘Made in Melbourne’.

Testimonials

Jamie is the designer for our label AMOS and has such a great appreciation and knowledge of fashion and fabrics. She respectfully and patiently worked with us to bring our company vision to life. We absolutely love the designs and garments she creates – they are so different and innovative. She takes absolute pride in her work and we are so fortunate to have her in our team. Big THANK YOU, Jamie!- Don Hett & Nuwan Kasturiratna, founders of AMOS Label

I’ve been working with Jamie since 2017 after I was asked to do a large wholesale order. I knew nothing about anything! Jamie guided me throughout the entire journey, introduced me to the right people and set up the production processes I still use today. Since then Jamie has been critical in my design process and creates all my patterns, spec sheets and grade rules. As well as numerous fittings to get the garment prefect. You can’t beat her attention to detail and passion, its the best in the biz! I am so lucky to have found her – Cassie Byrnes, owner of Variety Hour

Jamie is incredibly talented and knowledgeable about product design & development, as well as the fashion industry as a whole. She has the skills and experience to help me make informed decisions about my garments, as well as providing advice and guidance on all stages of the manufacturing process. I really appreciate Jamie’s ability to help me evolve an idea into a finished product, and I feel very lucky to work with her – Kobi Jae, owner of Cutting Shapes Club

Having had zero experience with producing a garment, Jamie listened and nurtured my idea into reality. We had numerous tests and fittings that were needed for our product and Jamie’s expertise, guidance and experience were exactly what we needed as a first time garment producer. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough – Hayley Smith, owner of The Baby Bathroom Co.

We went to Jamie with an idea and she pulled the specification and the pattern together within the week! It was exactly what we envisioned. Jamie is a professional and a creative that provides us the guidance we need. She helped us beyond just her pattern making expertise. We now use the manufacturer and grader that Jamie recommended.of which we love to work with as well.

For three busy mothers, we need Jamie to guide, educate and be patient with us! We are so happy we found her! – Lisa, Kat & Abbey, co-founders of IPSE
